When choosing your Photographer, there are some things that you must consider, below is a guideline to help you:
Capturing the excitement, spontaneity and emotion of your wedding day requires the skill and creativity of a professional photographer. Choose a photographer who will listen to what you want. They should be creative, versatile and able to organise.
Ask to see samples of previous work. Discuss the different types of photographic styles, settings and special effects available.
Your wedding album will be the most treasured memento of your Wedding Day, not only for you, but for your parents, relatives, friends and colleagues. For the best results it really is essential to employ a professional photographer who has the experience to handle any situation.
Start making enquiries in good time — the best photographers get booked up quickly, particularly for Saturday weddings. Arrange appointments the photographers and meet the photographer who will be taking the photographs on the day.
Consider beforehand the style and mixture of photography you want. Choose from formal, candid or natural shots. (The term "reportage" means a reporting style of photography). Also decide whether you want all colour photographs or a mix of colour and black and white or sepia. Ask if he or she is familiar with your wedding ceremony and reception venue. Ask if they know of any particularly attractive locations or, can they suggest somewhere close by?
A good photographer will ask you about your plans for the day and the theme and style of your wedding so that he has a good idea about your overall expectations. They will have a contingency plan in case of adverse weather. There may also be the possibility of taking studio photographs either before or after the wedding well worth considering if you are having a wedding in the rainy season.
Photographers will have different price structures, but most offer special wedding packages. Ask to see their brochure detailing the options. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting.
Find out how long they will be available during the day and, ask how they will be dressed. Also ask if the price is fixed. Does it include VAT and travel expenses? How many prints do you receive? What size are they? How soon after the wedding will they be ready? How soon after selecting your photographs will the album be ready? Will your album have a title page? (A good calligrapher will make title pages look superb — see the index at the back of this book.) Will your guests have an opportunity to sign a Guest Page at the reception? Will you want Parents' Albums and extra sets of prints? Can he supply framed or canvas mounted photographs or, photo-enamels?
When possible, tell the photographer about additional requirements beforehand; he may be able to offer you a better deal. Also, detail any particular or special photographs you want taken, for local newspapers for instance or, guests travelling from long distances, special friends, etc. It is very helpful to provide him with a list of the guests who should be on different group shots, ask a friend or relative to help him identify people on the day.
When you have chosen your photographer make sure you have a written contract that includes all your requirements and the costs involved.

However, don't be swayed into thinking that a family member or friend can do your video for you; you may be very disappointed and wish later that you had employed the skills and equipment of a professional.
Good videographers get booked up very quickly, so do book well in advance. Most of the points made about choosing photographers are applicable to videographers. It is particularly important to meet with several and make sure you feel relaxed with them and, so that you can see recent examples of their work before making your choice. Look closely at the quality and listen carefully to the sound. If the cameraman has been unobtrusive it will result in very natural filming. If he is not familiar with your wedding and reception venue he will visit them prior to the day to plan out where he will be positioned for the best shots, sound and lighting. Some companies may provide two cameramen in order to film to the best effect.
Some videos will incorporate stills of you both growing up and the soundtrack may include favourite songs or music to make your story complete. Let your videographer know what you want included from before and during your wedding day and also let him know who your photographer is so they can liaise beforehand.
Copies of your video make a lovely present for family and friends. Sometimes the video maker will create two versions; a feature-length version for the bride and groom and a shorter version of the best moments for family and friends.
